The Garden, the Villa and the Green Theatre

Giardino di Pojega is an 18th-century masterpiece designed by architect Luigi Trezza for the Rizzardi family. It is one of the last examples of an Italian formal garden, where geometry, perspectives and green rooms meet elements of the romantic garden. Its most distinctive features include the Green Theatre, the Secret Garden and the Belvedere, overlooking the vineyards of Valpolicella.

The route includes the Green Theatre, the Belvedere, the circular temple, the pond, the citrus houses, the Secret Garden, the hornbeam and cypress avenues, the statues and the perspectives designed by Luigi Trezza. The garden also offers views across the vineyards of the Guerrieri Rizzardi estate.

A Green Theatre is a form of living architecture typical of historic gardens, shaped from hedges and trees to create a stage and an audience area. The theatre at Giardino di Pojega, created with hornbeams, cypresses and statues, is considered one of Italy’s most important and best-preserved examples for its size, intricate design and spectacular perspective.

The standard admission ticket includes a visit to Giardino di Pojega, but not to the interiors of Villa Rizzardi. The Villa opens to the public only for selected tours and special events, listed in the website’s calendar.

Yes, private events can be organised at Giardino di Pojega and Villa Rizzardi. For information about the venues, availability and event arrangements, contact the Villa Rizzardi team on +39 347 3121466 or email info@villarizzardi.it
